United boss John Sheridan spoke to us about tonight’s Carabao Cup first round fixture as Championship side Blackburn Rovers make the trip north to Brunton Park.
“There’s nothing better than a decent cup run,” he said. “Blackburn are a good side who are looking for their first win of the season so they can start to pick up some momentum.
“They’ve had two very good draws from their first games and, whoever is picked, I have no doubt they’ll want to give a good account of themselves.”
“Teams from that level are all technically very good,” he added. “I know Tony [Mowbray] and he likes his sides to do things properly.
“We’ll be out there to have a go at them on Tuesday because we’re not going into it thinking we’re going to get beat. We want to get through to the next round.”
On what he wants from his own side, he said: “I think there’s one or two players who can come into the side who haven’t played too much so far.
“It’s a game I want to win. It’s a big game for us because they’re a tidy side, they’ll work us hard, and it’ll be good to go up against a team from that division.
“I want us to build on the good things we’ve done in the first two games. There are still things we need to get right, and things we can do better, but if we play in the way we did on Saturday we will pick up positive results.”
