Keep your eye out at Brunton Park on Saturday for bucket collectors, who will be helping club vice president Donald Marks – from D Marks Carpets – to raise money for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s only children’s hospice.

Donald has been a supporter and close friend of Jigsaw for a number of years now, and next Tuesday will see him take on the ‘Ride the Lights’ challenge in Blackpool with his seven-year-old granddaughter Ava Mae ... on a trike!

The traffic-free challenge takes participants along the full route of Blackpool’s now world famous illuminations, starting at Starr Gate and finishing at Red Bank Road.

Speaking about the challenge, Donald said: “Jigsaw is an organisation that is very close to my heart and I’m looking forward to doing this challenge with the aim of raising a little bit more money to help them with the work they do.

“The club have very kindly allowed us to hold a bucket collection ahead of the Crewe game on Saturday, again with all proceeds going to Jigsaw, and we’re hoping that will also add to the final total.

“United fans are known for their generosity, so we ask them to give as much as they can on Saturday for what is a fantastic group of people.”

“Ava Mae is really excited about the trike ride on Tuesday,” he added. “She’s most excited about the fact that she’s helping Jigsaw and, of course, that we’ll be going along the promenade and past the Tower.

“Like I say, please help us if you can, with the bucket collection or with direct donations to Jigsaw. It really will be appreciated.”
