Carlisle's packed fixture schedule continued with an away trip to face Morecambe this afternoon.

United had to battle the wind and wintry conditions in what was a keenly fought encounter and they edged their noses in front when Belchior Papa found the back of the net just before the break.

They doubled their lead shortly after the restart when trialist Kyle Soper finished off a good move, and Liam McCarron sealed the deal with 15 minutes left to play when he bagged his third goal in two outings.

Youth coach Gavin Skelton said: "We had to work hard in the first half, on what was a heavy pitch, but the lads stuck to their jobs and they deserved to take the lead when they did.

"We stepped it up a gear in the second half and played some excellent football. There were some good chances created and the clean sheet was a pat on the back for the defence for the way they played.

"It was a good all-round performance with some strong individual displays, so we come away feeling very pleased."

More details to follow.
