United made the trip across to Yorkshire on Saturday morning for their latest Youth Alliance Cup group game against York City.
United took the lead when Max Cowburn whipped a well-taken free kick into the corner of the net and the young forward doubled his tally for the day with a great strike from just inside the box.
But disaster struck for the young Blues when they conceded twice in the last five minutes to give the Minstermen a share of the spoils.
Youth boss Darren Edmondson said: "It wasn't our best performance of the season but we should have seen the game out and got the win.
"We got ourselves in front and with a two-goal cushion at that stage of the game you would expect to be able to take it through to full time.
"Again it's lessons learned and there are some good positives to take from it as well."
