Midfielder Jason Kennedy has today signed a new two-year deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2019.

Kennedy, 30, first signed for United on loan from Bradford in March 2015. After making the move permanent in the summer of 2016, he has gone on to make 93 appearances for the Cumbrians, scoring 18 goals.

Manager Keith Curle said: "We know all about Jason and we're delighted that he's chosen to stay with the club.

"He's had offers from other clubs which were financially stronger than ours but he enjoys Carlisle United, he enjoys what this club is about, and he feels he has a job to do.

"If you think back to the start of last season he had to stake a claim for a regular starting place. He got his head down, worked off those around him, and became a vital part of what we were doing.

"We went on to see how much we missed him when he picked up his injury in January. As I say, I am delighted that he'll be with us again next season because he is a fantastic professional and a pleasure to work with."

We'll have full reaction from Jason Kennedy on the official website later this week.
