United’s U18 side popped across to the north-east to face Newcastle United this afternoon for their latest pre-season friendly.
Youth boss Darren Edmondson said: “This was a good game between two sides that competed all the way through.
“Newcastle were tough opposition and they took their chances well. We had one goal disallowed and eight decent chances on target, so we had plenty to be encouraged by from our forward play.
“Importantly everybody got minutes and it was another step towards being match ready in terms of fitness and the way we want to play.”
