It's all systems go at Brunton Park as the club gets ready for the 2017/18 season, on and off the pitch.

And at the Carlisle United Supporters' Groups (CUSG) meeting last month representatives of all of the fan groups pledged their support to the ongoing season build-up in the form of providing volunteers to assist with tasks both inside and outside stadium.

Sales and Marketing Director Phil King gave the group an overview of the current work planned for the refurbishment of the Sunset Suite with new lighting, ceilings, decorations, flooring, wiring, TVs, air conditioning and furniture all part of the upgrade.

He said: "The refurbishments are being carried out by business partners and sponsors and it will really help the club if fans can volunteer their time to paint the adjoining corridors and doorways.

"As well as that we have painting jobs around the ground with barriers, walkways, fencing and access ways all in need of some cleaning or paint work."

Simon Clarkson, Chairman of CUSG, said: "We saw after the floods the huge volunteer turnout and how giving a bit back to the community left everyone with a real sense of pride.

"We want to give fans the chance to do their bit to help to make the ground look spick and span by setting up a Volunteer Week. As well as internal painting we know there are a lot of jobs to do around the ground that will allow the club staff to focus on the pitch and other work they have in hand."

The volunteer days run from 10am to 4pm on the following dates in July:

Thursday 20, Friday 21, Monday 24, Wednesday 26 and Friday 28.
