BIG MATCH PREVIEW: Morecambe

Everything you need to know ahead of the Saturday home fixture

United return to Brunton Park looking to kick things off in 2017 with a good performance and a positive result against ‘local’ rivals Morecambe.

The Blues sit in third place in the table following an excellent first half of the season and the lads are looking for more of the same as they head towards the business end of the campaign.

Manager Keith Curle said: “It was fantastic to see over 6,000 Carlisle fans in the stadium for the last home game and we would love to see the same again. It makes a huge difference and the support we get home and away is massively appreciated by everyone at the club.

“We’re working hard to bring success to this club and now is the time for us all to pull together. We’ve put some good building blocks in place and we have a group of players who want to win games. I’m sure we’ll see a very positive reaction at the weekend.”

The Man in the Middle

Our match referee this weekend is Mr Ross Joyce.

Mr Joyce has taken charge of 26 games so far this season and has shown 112 yellow cards and 8 reds.

This is his second visit to Brunton Park this season and he was also the man in the middle for the 2-2 away draw at Doncaster at the end of September. Shaun Miller and Jabo Ibehre scored the goals for us on that night. His visit here for the Exeter game in November was an action packed affair. Charlie Wyke (2) and Shaun Miller scored the goals as we won 3-2, and Michael Raynes and Jabo Ibehre picked up bookings for the home side. Jamie Devitt was given his marching orders when he was shown a second yellow in time added on at the end of the game.

We wish Mr Joyce and his team all the very best this weekend.
