Blackpool pounce on unforced errors ...
United struggled to get going on a disappointing day and they were picked off by a Blackpool side who looked in determined mood as they made the most of a series of unforced home errors.Blackpool attacked early and a quick spin from Vassell took him past his man on the left wing. A fizzed low cross was diverted goalwards by Delfouneso and Gillespie did well to stand tall and push it past the post.
The resulting corner delivery was half cleared but Daniel was there to guide it back into the box. The ball was swept into the back of the net by Vassell but the offside flag had been raised.
United got forward from the goal kick and a low cross from Adams had to be put behind for a corner. Blue shirts were in attendance but the home side had to build again as it was hooked into the centre circle. Waring held it up well and Adams went on the overlap to make space for another cross. Slocombe fumbled it and Devitt was disappointed to see his first time volley whip past the upright when it appeared that the goal was at his mercy.
The lively Delfouneso had options when he carried the ball forward from his own half on the quarter hour, but he went for the glory goal from distance and struck the ball against a defender. Another dangerous set piece delivery followed but the Blues survived a goalmouth scramble when Liddle smashed it clear.
Former-Blue Brad Potts tried his luck from distance as the Tangerines played on the break but it took a deflection and Gillespie gathered it comfortably.
United created confusion at the back when Shaun Miller and Waring combined to give Devitt room to cross. He popped it into the area but a whistle from the referee stopped O'Sullivan from taking a shot.
Blackpool grabbed the lead on 33 minutes when they passed their way down the Carlisle right flank. A low cross was dummied by Delfouneso and Potts left Gillespie with no chance as he thumped a volley into the back of the net.
Carlisle looked to hit back immediately with a floated ball into the danger area from Devitt. Waring was up to meet it but his header dropped high over the bar.
A glanced header from Liddle from an Adams corner flashed across the face of goal just ahead of the break, and a through ball from Devitt was inches away from being converted by Shaun Miller until Slocombe raced off his line.
A wild shot from Robertson sailed over the bar as Blackpool pushed forward after the break, and Gillespie had to parry as Payne bent a crunching volley through bodies from distance.
And Blackpool were gifted a second goal when Joyce hesitated as the ball bounced up in front of him. It was robbed off his toes and Jordan Flores did the rest as he rattled a thunderbolt into the back of net.
Carlisle struggled to get themselves going and their furstration was summed up when Devitt headed a cross from O'Sullivan right at Slocombe.
A ball across the face of goal from Vassell at the other end was inches away from being turned in by Flores, but that seemed to spur the hosts into life and they gave themselves hope when Liddle clipped a lovely cross into the area. Jabo Ibehre made it nine for the season as he checked his run to meet the ball with a firm downward header.
Raynes popped another header over from an Adams corner as United started to push men forward, and Ibehre needed more of a connection when he got onto the end of another floater from Liddle with 15 minutes left to play.
The home side suddenly looked like they were interested and both Raynes and Ibehre went close as the quality of the deliveries started to improve.
But the late rally was derailed when Jones played a weak pass to Gary Liddle on the edge of the area. He tried to back heel it to his keeper but it was underhit and Odelusi nipped in to finish it off.
And the visitors scored again when they ripped through a totally shell shocked defence. Nathan Delfouneso wrapped the perfect away day display up with a clipped finish.
