United's Annual Golf Day took place at Carlisle Golf Club on Friday and it was, as ever, a keenly fought affair.

In the end it was the Carlisle United team comprising of Keith Curle, Simon Tracey, Neil Dalton and Jake Simpson who took the honours with steady rounds from all four players.

A huge thank you goes to Andrew Dunning [Liberty Leisure] and Colin Carter for bringing the teams together and for making the event such a big success.

Also thanks to club director Steven Pattison for the donation of the Dick Young Memorial Trophy - the award presented to the competition's overall winners at the end of the day.

Joint organiser Colin Carter said: "I'd like to say thank you to all the teams and businesses who took part, and to the hosts, Carlisle Golf Club. They all helped to make it a really enjoyable day.

"A lot of work was done by Andrew [Dunning] to get everything in place and I know everyone involved really appreciates that.

"As for the winners ... I can only say the word 'bandits' springs to mind! They tied with two other teams on 91 points but won following a second count-back.

"In all seriousness, they did play well and it was nice for them to receive the Dick Young Memorial Trophy with Dick's wife, Val, in attendance at the prize giving.

"The main aim of the day was to bring people together in a different environment and I think it's an event which will only go from strength-to-strength. It's an important part of the club's social calendar and we're just really pleased that it was so well received."
