United boss Keith Curle spoke to us about this weekend’s Lincoln City away game as he looks for the squad to continue its good run of form.

“I think this game will be a mixture of Cheltenham and Cambridge,” he said. “They’re a big, physical and direct side and they have real focus about their play. They’re also very well organised and well disciplined.

“They have a way of playing that suits them. They have a lot of buy-in from their players for that and they all have a good understanding of what their manager wants. Their keeper can lump it and land the ball inside the opposition box with his kick and they have a good focal point with the strikers up front.”

“It’s a club which has been on the crest of a wave and they’re well supported,” he continued. “The game will offer us a challenge and it will come down to whether we go toe-to-toe or try to impose our game through our shape, formation and style of play.

“Potentially we’ll see two styles of play and it’s another game where I won’t be surprised if it ends at 0-0 or 4-4.”

“What we’ll be mindful of is that they can cause anybody problems if it’s their day and if the other team doesn’t deal with their threat,” he concluded. “They’re adapting to league football but we have our game plan and we’ll be looking to cause them problems as well. Within that we’ll be very respectful of their strengths.

“What we know is that they want to get forward quickly and they land on balls really well. They work a lot on keeping situations alive in dangerous areas so we’ll have to work as a team and as a unit to combat that. We’ll also have to earn the right to play the way we want to play, but we’ve shown that we’re more than capable of doing that, whatever type of test we face.”
