United manager Keith Curle spoke to us ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup first round fixture against Fleetwood Town about what he wants from the game.
“We go into every game wanting to win and this is no different,” he said. “We prepare properly and our aim is to do everything right, because that’s the way we approach things as a football department and as a football club.
“It’s a game for us to look forward to because we’ve had some good nights in this competition in recent years. Things can get exciting quickly and that’s another reason for us to make sure we do what we can to progress.
“Whatever the outcome, we’ll go out there to compete. As we saw on Saturday, these players keep going even when they’ve had a slap in the face. They want another successful season so they’ll be out there to put on a performance for us.”
“Fleetwood will give us a tough game,” he continued. “I know Uwe [Rosler] and he’ll be demanding a lot from his players. He’s no different to myself, he’s very professional in how does things and he hates losing football matches.
“It’s an opportunity for us to go out and win a game of football. The players want to add a result to their performance levels and, as I say, we want to win it because we want to progress in the competition.”
