Our MND signed goalkeeper gloves competition winners
The keeper’s union came together at the recent home game against Notts County when former-Blue Adam Collin joined forces with Mark Gillespie and Max Crocombe in support of United favourite Tony Hopper to raise money for Motor Neuron Disease research. The trio donated signed match worn gloves for the cause with United’s Lottery Department also providing a Carlisle United shirt signed by this season’s squad.
Lottery and promotions manager Ewan Wood said: “Things like this show again just how much people want to help Tony to raise money for MND. Adam also donated the shirt he wore during the game, so that will add to the tally when it goes to auction.
“Thank you to everyone who bought tickets, the members of CUSG and the match day sellers who helped on the day, and a special thank you to the three goalkeepers who came up with this excellent fundraising idea.”
Marion Upex, who won the signed Mark Gillespie gloves, popped along to Brunton Park this week to collect her prize.
“My son Jeff and grandson Ivan live in Shrewsbury but they still get to as many games as they can,” she said. “They travel the length and breadth of the country to follow their team so they’ll be delighted with this prize.
“They came up to stay with me through the Easter period and I know they wanted me to help Tony and his MND fundraising efforts. It’s an added bonus that we were actually drawn from the hat!”
