Shaun Miller on assists and keeping the unbeaten run going
We spoke to striker Shaun Miller ahead of training on Tuesday morning about assists and keeping the unbeaten run going."We've felt confident about the first seven or eight games we've played," he told us. "We've dominated most games, but we've been caught on the counter attack in a couple of them. We've shown great resilience and spirit to get back into those games and remain unbeaten.
"It's frustrating in the sense that we haven't won as many games as we thought we should have done. However, when you're behind in the last few minutes, as we have been, it's always great to keep the run going and keep the points ticking over.
"Obviously we don't want to draw for the rest of the season. We want to keep trying to win games but it's a great feeling to keep the points ticking over. We know we need to turn those draws into wins now."
"As players we feel that if we can get that early goal we could really put a team away," he said. "We haven't been able to do that, because we've gone behind, but we've shown great character to come back. There are goals in the team so we know it'll come."
On his own form and his run-out in a variety of roles, he said: "I've played in many positions throughout my career, across the front as well as wide, so it's nothing new for me. I just love being part of the team. Hopefully I can start banging a few goals in.
"I've got a couple of assists but the most important thing for any striker is to get goals. I had a few half chances on Saturday which I maybe could have done better with, but as soon as the first one comes I think there could be a few more.
"As long as you're contributing to the team you feel like you're doing your job, but the main thing for the strikers is goals. If you don't score you always look to try and create. Hopefully I can keep doing that and the main aim is to get the next three points on the board."
Speaking about the growing sense of unity in the squad, he said: "We're a very close knit squad who all get on well and like to have a laugh. At the same time we know we're a strong squad and we know where we should be.
"That means there is frustration when we come into the dressing room with another draw and, as I say, that's even more the case when we feel like we should have won the game. We've got to stick together and move onto the next game when that happens because we're all driving in the same direction to try and be successful.
"Everyone knows that there's someone ready to take their place if you aren't quite doing it. You'll be told if you aren't quite doing it by the other lads, which keeps everyone on their toes. We're striving for success so you need to have that determination behind you."
On the Blackpool away game which will see over 2,600 Cumbrians make the trip to Bloomfield Road, he said: "There are a lot of fans going down to Blackpool so it should be a great atmosphere. It's always great to see a large away following and hopefully we can get three points and send them home happy.
"If we start well our fans will be making all the noise. We'll be doing everything we can to get them behind us and keep the unbeaten run going."
