Keith Curle on hard work and unity
Manager Keith Curle spoke about the reasons behind the success the squad is currently as preparations start for another tough home game against Crawley Town at the weekend.“We’re enjoying what we’re doing and that’s important,” he said. “It’s all down to hard work because it isn’t just about rolling up and getting results.
“We’re all working hard and we’re feeling pleased because it hasn’t just happened for us overnight. There’s no fear. We don’t go out worrying about losing games, we go out to perform.
“As boring as it gets to hear me say this, our focus will only ever be on the next game and the players have bought into that. They’re getting their heads down and they’re giving us performances.
“It isn’t always about free-flowing football and dominating for 90 minutes. That just doesn’t happen. We’re adapting our performances as necessary, and to suit the opposition we face, and it’s working for us.
“My job is to make sure people want to watch what’s happening on the pitch. The more people are talking about us the more it means we’re doing the right things. Long may that continue.”
Looking ahead to the weekend, he said: “It’s another game where we are up against a side who are comfortable with how they want to play. We’ll all need to work hard to get something, and I include the fans in that.
“The people who turned up for the Hartlepool game - we need to see you again. It’s another massive game for us and everyone who enjoyed last week should know there is more to come.
“If we can get people to keep coming back into the stadium and enjoying what we’re trying to build then hopefully they’ll all feel part of it. That’s when we’ll have the unity and strength we’ve been talking about.”
