CUMBERLAND FA: Amputee football event to be held in Carlisle

Open taster session at Harraby Sports Complex in November

The Cumberland FA is delighted to announce that it has teamed up with England Amputee FA and the Cumberland Infirmary Limb Centre to deliver a special event that will allow amputees, those with congenital deficiencies and non-functioning limbs the opportunity to try Amputee Football.

Taking place on the outdoor 3G pitch at Harraby Sports Complex in Carlisle on Sunday 6 November, the open taster session is open to all who wish to give the game a try, regardless of any previous experience. All age groups are welcome, as are both male and female players – so just turn up on the day, give the game a go and enjoy.

Commencing at 12pm and running until 2pm, the fun, informal taster session will provide plenty of support and coaching – with the aim being to ensure that as many amputees or people with non-functioning limbs as possible experience Amputee Football, with a view of wishing to play more.

Craig Lewis, Football Development Manager at the Cumberland FA, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for amputees or people with non-functioning limbs within Cumberland to come along and give football a try. Whether you’re someone who has played football for years, or somebody wishing to play for the very first time, this is an exciting event and I’d encourage you to come down and give the game a go.

“An event like this will really help us as a County FA establish new relationships and encourage amputee players to get involved in football. Hopefully, following this event, we will be able to continue to offer this provision within Cumberland.”
