CUMBERLAND CUP: United 0 - 2 Cleator Moor Celtic

Update from the Tuesday Cumberland Cup game

Cleator Moor Celtic secured their place in the third round of this season's Cumberland Cup competition with a hard earned victory against a young Carlisle United side.

It was honours even at half time, as both sides missed chances to take the lead, and controversy reigned ahead of the break when visiting penalty appeals were turned down despite what looked like a pull back on an attacking player as the ball flashed across the box.

Celtic took the lead in the second half when Shaw eased off his marker to meet a deep cross. His guided header left Bacon with no chance as it dropped into the bottom corner.

The lead was doubled when Bacon was judged to have mistimed a tackle inside his own area and Celtic captain Leigh Dunn was on hand to rattle the rebound from Darren Little's spot kick into the waiting net.

Reaction from Academy Manager Darren Edmondson to follow.
