An unusual college session with the youth team
Carlisle United’s youth team lads probably didn’t expect to find themselves getting right to the heart of things when they signed their two-year scholarship contracts but that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday afternoon when they got up close and personal at a college session with a difference.Youth boss Darren Edmondson said: “As part of their course work they obviously look at a number of modules to get more of an understanding of how the body works. They were given the opportunity this week to dissect an animal heart and it’s fair to say that everyone found the experience to be fascinating.
“As with anything, there’s no better way of learning than to actually see it for yourself, particularly if you have to actually look for and find the things you’ve been talking about – but I don’t think there’s much chance of any of our lot going on to be heart surgeons, let’s put it that way!”
The U18 side travel to face Walsall this weekend in their latest Youth Alliance league fixture – kick off 1pm.
