Manager Keith Curle on the importance of the fans
Manager Keith Curle spoke again today about the importance of the fans as his team continues to brush all-comers to one side in their amazing start to the campaign.“The support we’re getting is phenomenal,” he said. “We know there are more supporters out there who will come and it’s our job to attract them in. Word is spreading that people are going to get entertained so my message to everyone is to come down and enjoy it with us.
“The fans in the ground on Saturday made it sound like 6,500 people were in here. When this place is rocking it’s a good environment to work in. I’m pleased with the attendance we got because it shows we’re building something week on week.
“With the way the team is playing all I can say is that it’s time to enjoy the football club. We’re going in the right direction and we’re getting the results from the hard work we do. Hard work will always be the building block, but within that the players know they still have the freedom to express themselves.
“Every player knows we want to see entertaining football, but they also know that isn’t to be at the cost of losing games. That’s why we’re seeing different kinds of good performances which are bringing us results.”
“As we’ve said before, and this is important, we’re creating an environment where people are enjoying their work,” he added. “There’s competition for places and the lads know that it doesn’t matter if they played last week or not. The opportunity might come and they have to be ready because, if they’re not, somebody else will be.
“I’ve said it a lot that I don’t owe anybody in the changing room anything. I pick teams based on what I think will get us points. Other teams will be looking at us now and thinking who is going to be the team to beat us. We’re looking at it as who will we beat next, and that’s why we don’t fear anybody.”
