MANAGER: Nobody more frustrated than me

Keith Curle on the hunt for new faces

Manager Keith Curle spoke to us today about the search for new faces to add to the squad ahead of the closure of the emergency loan window.

“I am trying but I’m not just bringing in fresh faces for the sake of it,” he said. “I will only bring people in who I think can improve us. We’re working our socks off as coaching staff to achieve that.

“I spend a lot of time communicating with players, agents, managers and all manner of people trying to make the right deals happen. We’re on the case constantly but we will only add to the squad if it’s a fresh face with quality.”

“There is nobody more frustrated than me at the moment that we haven’t managed to secure one of our targets,” he insisted. “I’m doing the miles and making the calls and, as I keep saying, the money is available. At the moment I can’t get people to sit down in front of me to then allow me to have the chance to sell the football club and our philosophies.

“Things will change because I know clubs are well within their rights to look after their players. They want them to play at the highest level possible and sometimes we just have to be patient.

“We think this club is a good stepping stone for players to come in and show people what they can do. Macaulay Gillesphey, Brandon Comley and Alex Gilliead are examples of that, so we’ll keep doing our work until we secure the players we want and who will bring improvement to what we already have.”
