Winger signs short-term contract
Carlisle United have today signed Angolan-born winger Louis Pedro on a short-term contract until 21 May 2016.
Pedro, 25, cut his teeth in the game in Holland with MVV Maastricht and Feyenoord, where he made nine senior appearances. He spent time on loan with Excelsior before spells with Go Ahead Eagles and Heracles Almelo in his adopted Holland followed.
He then had two years in Bulgaria with Botev Plovdiv and Levski Sofia before he moved to Romania to play for ASA Targu Mires. He has represented Holland at U18 and U19 level.
He has spent an extended period on trial with United and scored twice in last Tuesday’s 4-0 reserve game victory over Barrow as well as another two goals in a reserve game at Burnley this week.
Head of Recruitment Lee Dykes said: "Louis has been training with us for a good while and he has impressed us with the way he has slotted in with what we do.
"He came to light through another good contact I have and we were able to get him up here to take a look at him.
"We've seen enough to know that he adds something different to the group and this is a chance for him to show everyone what he can do. We're all looking forward to working with him over the next few months."
International clearance has been received and Louis is eligible for tomorrow's game at Yeovil.
