Keith Curle on the ongoing search for new signings
Manager Keith Curle confirmed today that work is ongoing as he looks to make more additions to the squad ahead of the coming campaign.
“We’re still working away at it and we’re still looking,” he confirmed. “We’re a League Two club and we know there’s still room for improvement.
“I think we have pulled a good core of a team together and that’s very exciting for all of us. However, there is still room to improve and we’ll keep looking for the players we think will add new attributes to the squad.
“We’ve identified targets we want to bring here as and when other clubs deem the players in question are no longer required. At the moment they’re still being given an opportunity to impress at their parent clubs and that’s what pre-season is all about.
“What we don’t want is knee-jerk reactions towards signings. We have our targets and we will continue to do what we’ve always done when it comes to getting them through the door.”
Looking ahead to the next friendly – the away trip to Barrow Saturday 23 July – he said: “We have another good week of training next week and then it’s on to the Barrow game.
“The friendly fixtures so far have been competitive but we now go up to another level. The icing on the cake will be the games against Bury and Bradford, but there will be different aspects of our game which will be tested in all three of those games to come.”
