Grainger to miss out on Fa Cup tie
United captain Danny Grainger is set to miss out on the big game against Everton on Sunday as he continues to nurse an ankle injury picked up during the first half of the third round Emirates FA Cup replay against Yeovil at Huish Park.
Grainger, 29, has scored six goals in his 30 appearances so far this season but will be sidelined as he recovers from the after-effects of the challenge.
Manager Keith Curle said: “Danny will be out for a few weeks now as he follows his rehab programme. It’s obviously a blow for us to lose him.
“I think he’s playing the best football we’ve seen from him and I know for a fact he’s enjoying the role of being a leader, both in the dressing room and out on the pitch.”
“He’s a goal threat, a goal scorer and he sets a good example,” he continued. “It’s disappointing for him, but the pleasing thing is I know he will tackle his injury in the same way he’s tackled everything else this season. That’s with his usual levels of determination and enthusiasm. I have no doubt he will make sure he’s back sooner rather than later.”
