Keith Curle and Andrew Jenkins on the manager's contract
Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to confirm that manager Keith Curle has today signed his contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2018.Chariman Andrew Jenkins said: "We're pleased that it's all put to bed. The floods have meant it's taken a bit of time to sort things out and there were one or two finer details that needed to be talked about.
"The good thing is that we've always had a good relationship with Keith and we were always in agreement on the basics of the contract."
"In my opinion, Keith has transformed this football club," he added. "We were struggling at the time he joined us but he's introduced working practices in a way I've never seen the club operate before. The planning and preparation that goes into matches, assessments and players is different to what I've seen from other management teams."
"We're very confident that together we can take the club forward," he commented. "We like the way he wants the club to work and that's why we're very pleased to have the contract signed. I like to put decisions to bed and we feel we have the makings of a solid foundation as we look to go forward together."

Manager Keith Curle said: "Both parties have been working to the agreement so it was just a case of making sure the understanding between the Chairman, John [Nixon] and myself was put down on paper.
"There are no grey areas whatsoever throughout the whole contract. I think that's the right way to do business. You don't employ anyone or buy anything without knowing the full extent of what you're purchasing. You wouldn't buy a house and leave some grey areas so it was a case of the finer details being completely black and white for both parties.
"Some of the content up for discussion was with regard to the structure, the vision and the forward path for success. Whatever you say, to be successful there has to be a plan in place and I'm glad to say that I feel we're planning to be successful together. That is very important to me."
On his desire to bring continued progression to the club, he said: "I've never lost sight of where we were when I first came into the football club. We've come a million miles since then, but I think that still shows how far we've got to go.

"We're comfortable in the division at the moment, with games in hand, and we've had two fantastic cup runs which have brought belief and support back into the football club.
"The important thing for us now is that the second half of the season matches the ambitions from the start of the season, which was to finish comfortably in the top half of the table. With a little bit of luck and consistency placed alongside the players performing how I know they can, we could get into the top seven. You don't know what could happen after that."

Speaking about his relationship with the club owners, he said: "I've got a good relationship with the top corridor. I think a lot of that comes down to the staff I've employed and the staff who were already at the football club.
"That has allowed me to manage up, as well as down. I'm a coach and a manager, so I do like to spend a lot of time with the players on the training pitch, but I know my relationship with the Chairman and John [Nixon] is vitally important. We need to maintain that shared vision so we can continue to move forward.
"When I came into the football club I came with the ambition of being here on a long-term journey. I think this club is well below where it needs to be, and where it can be, and I'm very excited by the prospect of being a part of taking this football club on a journey."
