Striker Jabo Ibehre wins red card appeal
Carlisle United Football Club can confirm that the decision to show a red card to Jabo Ibehre after just 34 seconds of the Accrington Stanley game had been played on Tuesday night has been overturned on appeal this afternoon.Club officials started working on the detail of the appeal on Tuesday night and a panel agreed that the sending off should be rescinded when they convened to consider the case on Thursday afternoon.
Manager Keith Curle said: "It goes without saying that we think the correct outcome has been reached.
"There has been a heck of a lot of work done behind the scenes in support of the appeal and a lot of effort went into making sure we had the right information to send forward to the panel.
"I'm sure some of our fans won't know what the appeal process entails and that's why I want to thank those members of staff at the club who were involved first hand, so that their work gets recognised."
"Ultimately, of course, we had to play over 90 minutes of a game with only ten men on Tuesday, but that's been and gone now," he commented. "The positive to come out of it was the way the rest of the team responded to what was a real setback.
"As I say, the decision has been overturned so we put this behind us and we make sure our focus is completely on the Stevenage game on Saturday."
