NCS students graduate at end of another successful course
On the evening of Thursday 3 September 27 young people, watched by families and friends, received their graduation certificates from Mr John Stevenson, MP for Carlisle.
The fun-packed award ceremony took place in Foxy’s Restaurant and one of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the ‘Come Dine With Me’results. Mr Steve Garbett from Caldew School handed out the prizes associated with this competition.
Presentations were given by the young people about the activities they had completed and they spoke about the lasting impact the whole NCS journey has had on them. The benefits they gained from the experience were a theme throughout the evening.
John Stevenson spoke briefly about the success of the NCS as a national initiative before presenting each student with an individual certificate, signed by Prime Minister David Cameron. The young people also received certificates listing the competencies they gained whilst at the Lockerbie Manor outdoor pursuits centre.
Jon Armstrong, NCS Regional Coordinator with the Football League Trust, concluded the formal part of the awards evening with a vote thanks to all involved. He also highlighted the national success of the programme this summer. The ambience and ‘banter’ continued well into the evening as the candidates shared their stories and memories over a buffet and drinks.
