United host Preston at Brunton Park on Tuesday night
Carlisle United youth team play host to Preston North End in the third round of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening at Brunton Park [kick off 7pm].Youth boss Alan Moore said: ""We've got Preston in the semi-finals of the Youth Alliance Cup as well, so we're going to get to see a lot of them during the next few weeks.
"Games against Preston are always good because they're a decent team. I've watched them in their last two games, they've surprisingly lost both, but in the two months previous to that they went unbeaten.
"They came up here earlier in the season and they're probably the only team who have dominated us. We've reminded the lads of the quality of the opposition we're coming up against."
"Our lads will want to put the game earlier in the season right," he agreed. "We need to make sure that just because we've played twice on the main pitch already the players don't just treat it as another game.
"This is Preston's first game in the FA Youth Cup, because they're in the Championship, so they'll be up for it. We need to match that initially then hopefully our football will take over."
On the third outing of the season on the main pitch, he said: "The lads have all done well in the two games we've played under the lights so far.
"They've stood up to the challenge, but we keep reminding them they can't just show up for the big games. We didn't perform in the Cumberland Cup last week, or the game we played against Bury a couple of weeks ago, so it has to become an everyday thing."
