Josh Gillies joins Gateshead until end of season
Midfielder Josh Gillies has today joined Vanarama Conference play off chasers Gateshead on loan until 25 April 2015.
Gillies, 24, joined United from the ‘Heed’ in June 2013 and has made 18 appearances and scored one goal through his two seasons with the Blues.
The Sunderland born attacking wide man enjoyed an excellent season at the International Stadium, prior to coming to Carlisle, as he bagged 15 goals and claimed a host of assists.
He can also boast a strike in the FA Vase at Wembley as he helped Whitley Bay to retain the trophy for a second successive season prior to his move to Gatheshead.
“I spoke to Gary Mills on Tuesday about his availability,” manager Keith Curle said. “I was able to tell him that his fitness levels are fantastic because he has looked after himself really well.
“What he needs is more game time and he is going to get that at a club that he knows and which is playing really well. This move can only be of benefit to him.”
This loan can be extended to cover the Conference play off period should Gateshead be successful in achieving a top five spot.
