INTERVIEW: Determined to do well

Jason Kennedy on his loan move

Bantams midfielder Jason Kennedy spoke to us about his one-month loan move.

"I heard that the manager had spoken to Bradford about me but, because of circumstances with injuries, it didn't materialise until this week," he explained. "As a footballer you want to play every week so the league position Carlisle are in didn't put me off.

"My chances were limited at Bradford. I've been on the bench but not getting much action. I want to come here and help Carlisle get the points they need to get up the table. I just want to be playing football and it's difficult when you aren't getting the game time.

"Bradford have obviously done really well in the cups but it's frustrating to see that success when you aren't fully involved. I've played in this league before so I know what it's all about. I know what types of games we'll be going into and I'm just looking forward to getting my teeth into it."

"I'll work my socks off for the team and I like to win my challenges," he continued. "I'll get the ball down and play simple football, and I'll leave the attacking to more skilful lads in the squad! You always want to prove people wrong and show that when you're given the opportunity you can work well in the team.

"The manager has told me he wants me to get on the ball without taking risks and to help to keep the team ticking over. If I'm playing week in, week out I would be happy to extend the loan beyond the month. I'm getting to know the lads more and more each day and I haven't been with any of them previously, so it's a new thing for me. I'm enjoying it so far.

"I've been involved in a couple of training sessions already and the training pitch is where I'm most comfortable. I enjoy being out there and getting to know what the rest of the lads are all about."

"A few of the lads have mentioned the away following we get and I think we'll have over 1,000 fans at York, so it will be a massive game. I'm really looking forward to it because it's a massive game for the club.

"Playing games is always an opportunity to impress and I will be looking for a new contract in the summer. I'm determined to do well here so I can earn that.

"Hopefully I can hit the ground running. There were other clubs interested but Bradford emphasised how much interest the gaffer here had shown, which was good to hear. That's why I'm here and why I want to help the club get the points and wins it needs."
