Keith Curle on contract talks with Brad Potts
Manager Keith Curle confirmed today that contract talks with midfielder Brad Potts have reopened as the season heads into its final six weeks.
“We’ve made an offer in writing to Brad and his agent,” he said. “We’re now waiting for a response.
“I believe it’s an improved offer, and I think it’s a good one. You tend to get seven days from receipt of the letter and part of the negotiation process is that we need a response, so we know where we’re at.
“What we want for him, and all of our players, is for them to go out and express themselves without worrying about contracts, lengths of deals or reengagement of contracts. We want people to do the best they can, whether they are representing Carlisle on or off the pitch.
“Brad wants to improve and he wants to be at a football club he feels can be part of that process for him. I’ve not seen anything to tell me he isn’t enjoying his football. He’s getting good coaching and understanding of different roles and responsibilities within the game.
“People tell us he isn’t good in the air but one thing noticeable from the other night was his willingness to go in and compete for everything. Imagine getting him into the same situation we had with Kyle Dempsey when he went up for the ball at the back post. He’s 6’ 2” with a great physique, so he would be very difficult to stop. If he can get his eye on the ball in those situations it would be something else we could add to his armoury.”
