CLUB: Fostering Friendly Employer

CUFC are part of the council’s Fostering Friendly Employer scheme

In Cumbria over 600 children live with over 200 local foster families, but with around 10% of carers retiring each year the county council is always looking for more people to become foster carers.

Carlisle United Football Club are part of the council’s Fostering Friendly Employer scheme. That means we support staff who are foster carers, or applying to be foster carers. We also help to promote fostering during Foster Care Fortnight, which this year runs between 1-14 June.

For the vast majority of children in Cumbria, a foster home can provide the stability and support needed to secure a better future. There is a particular need for foster carers to look after older children, sibling groups and to provide long terms placements.

Foster carers come from all walks of life and with the excellent support, training and financial assistance on offer, the council is encouraging people not to rule themselves out.

The council will be hosting drop-in sessions across the county in Kendal, Carlisle and Workington for people interested in finding out more. They are informal and there’s no need to book.

+ 25/06/15 – Workington Washington Hotel, 18:00-20:00.
