Tony Caig set to join Hartlepool as coach
Carlisle United can confirm that keeper coach Tony Caig will be leaving the club to take up a coaching position with Hartlepool United ahead of the start of the 2015/16 campaign.
Caig, 41, started his football career with the Cumbrians as a youngster and went on to make just under 300 appearances with the Blues, which included two Wembley finals and memorable promotion winning seasons under Mick Wadsworth and Mervyn Day.
His career took him to Blackpool, Charlton, Hibs, Newcastle United and Gretna, and he also enjoyed seasons in Canada and the USA when he played for Vancouver Whitecaps and Houston Dynamo respectively.
He returned to Brunton Park to assist with coaching the keepers whilst still a player with Workington during the 2009/10 season and made the move permanent at the end of that year.
He stepped up as caretaker manager with Paul Thirlwell for a four game spell in September 2014 and leaves the Blues with the very best wishes of everyone at the club.
