Jason Kennedy on pre-season so far
We spoke to Jason Kennedy about pre-season and about his return to Bradford for the friendly fixture on Saturday ahead of the first training session of the day on Tuesday morning."We came back after our little break and got straight back into it," he told us. "We've worked hard and we've got another hard day ahead of us, so it's straight back to business.
"I think having the break was good because it was something to look forward to and the lads put that extra effort in because we knew we were going to get the rewards for it.
"We worked hard during the first part of training and I think we actually came back for pre-season earlier than other teams, so we've put a shift in."
"Pre-season is non-stop and you just have to get through it," he said. "It's tough, but it's enjoyable, because you know you're getting closer to the start of the season.
"We've got some tough games against good teams coming up. They'll be enjoyable and we'll be able to see where we're at against better opposition."
Looking ahead to the weekend, he said: "It will be strange to go back but it'll be enjoyable as well.
"It'll be nice to see some of the lads and staff I didn't get to say goodbye to properly. I'm sure it will be a good game. I think it's their only home friendly so I imagine there will be a decent turnout.
"You go back to old clubs throughout your career and when you do go back you always want to play well. I want to go there and show how good I am if I'm playing on the day.
"I know Riggy [Steven Rigg] got the captain's armband against Penrith but I won't be asking for it on Saturday! I'll enjoy the day regardless of who is captain, so it doesn't really matter."
"Everyone is looking forward to the Mansfield game now," he said. "We're all pushing each other hard for selection for that game. We've got trialists in who are pushing the rest of us, the young lads are pushing each other and it's just a competitive environment.
"There's a lot of competition for places. We actually had a game in training yesterday that was a bit feisty, so all of the lads are determined to do well and better each other."
"I feel like I've completely settled here now," he concluded. "With the new lads coming in it made it a little bit easier because everyone was in the same position. It's been a great experience so far and I'm loving life here with this group of lads."
