Updates from the Saturday friendly at Penrith
United played some good football on an enjoyable afternoon at Penrith with local lad Steven Rigg handed the captain's armband for his return to Frenchfields Park.Defender Danny Grainger kicked things off for the visitors with a crisply taken 23-yard free kick which dipped over the wall and bounced past the keeper as it made its way into the net.
New signing Tom Miller played a big part as he set up Charlie Wyke with a perfectly volleyed cross which the big striker pounced on to drill home at close range.
Wyke followed it up with a second, and Miller opened his friendly account when he followed a flowing move to poke it into the back of the net as the keeper misjudged the cross.
Substitute Jason Kennedy volleyed a half clearance into the roof of the net from 12 yards with 70 minutes on the clock, and Mark Beck bagged twice with his head as Carlisle wrapped up their seven-goal victory.
