Academy teams to enter Cleator Moor Celtic tournament
Academy coach Ben Benson confirmed today that teams from the U8, U9, U10 and U11 academy age groups will be taking part in the popular Cleator Moor Celtic end of season tournament in June.
“Cleator Moor Celtic are one of our linked clubs and we are delighted that we have been invited to take part,” he said.
“I’m delighted that we will be part of such a well supported tournament and I would like to extend my gratitude to the officials of Cleator Moor Celtic for allowing our players to take part.”
“I’ve said before, the staff and I place great importance on strengthening our relations with grassroots teams and hopefully this demonstrates how positive these links can be for all concerned,” he added.
“Tournament football is something we place a great emphasis on with regards to the long term development of our academy players. Although we aren’t interested in the result aspects of the games, we are interested in ways in which our players can continue to develop, within the framework of the philosophy we’ve mapped out.
“The Cleator Moor Celtic tournament will give our players a fantastic opportunity to showcase the skills they’ve developed over the course of the season.”
“Having attended the Cleator Moor Celtic tournament in a scouting capacity over the years, I can speak first hand of the professionalism and quality on show,” he concluded. I would recommend it highly to any local teams and, should anyone want to enter, please download an application form.”
