Result from the Tuesday afternoon game
First half goals from Hammell and Hall earned United a home win against Fleetwood this afternoon as they took their chances and stayed tight at the back.
Mikey Quigley volleyed the first chance of the day over the bar from 16-yards, as it dropped out of the sky, and the same player rattled the angle of post and bar as he curled a beauty over the keeper at the end of another good move.
The Cumbrians deservedly took the lead on 13 minutes when Eccles rolled the ball out to the left hand side. A flowing one-touch move from back to front followed and Connor Hammell rounded it off in style with a cheeky dink over the advancing keeper.
The hosts doubled their lead just before the break when Fleetwood struggled to clear an inswinging corner. Kieran Hall kept his eye on it and nodded it into the back of the net from close range.
Things tightened up in the second half but Jason Blackburn went close when he sent a thundering drive onto the woodwork from the edge of the box.
Full reaction to follow.
