United came away with a point from their long Wednesday trip to Port Vale but they rode their luck as they struggled to match their recent performance levels.
"We didn't play as well as we have been and, to be honest, we were poor at times throughout the game," youth boss Alan Moore said. "We didn't maintain our high standards of late, but the positive is that we've come away from the game with a clean sheet and a draw."
