MANAGER: Nothing gets left to chance

Keith Curle ahead of the Notts County game at Preston

Manager Keith Curle spoke to us about the unusual situation to be faced by the club when they host their home game against Notts County as Deepdale on Saturday.

“We aren’t a club who can claim to have many neighbours but we’ve looked as near as we can for the fixtures we need to play,” he told us. “We had other offers but we’ve tried to think about factors like travel for the fans, distance and things like that. We’re mindful it won’t suit every Carlisle fan but we’ve done our best, given the circumstances.

“We will try to acclimatise ourselves to Preston because it’s a fantastic playing surface and a great arena,” he said. “We’re very thankful to the owners and management staff at Preston for allowing us to play the game there. I’m sure we will all show the respect their stadium merits and we hope to make a lot of friends while we’re there.

“As a squad, travelling doesn’t affect us. The time away from home doesn’t have any kind of detrimental impact at all. We’ll prepare for the games away from Brunton Park as if they are an away game, as daft as that sounds.

“Our fans know that nothing gets left to chance by us any more. The attention to detail doesn’t change and everyone understands why we do what we do before games. It’s getting us results and, whatever the state of play at our stadium, we’ll continue to do it.”
