Eden Valley Hospice garden refurbished by NCS students
As we mentioned on Sunday, it’s been a busy week for the Carlisle United NCS cohort as they quite literally 'dig in' to their social action plan projects. The excellent work we highlighted with the Carlisle Key (click HERE for full details of that) was complemented by a second group of students who went along to Eden Valley Hospice to refurbish the garden area.
The students cleared the area then bought fruit trees which have now been planted for the residents to enjoy.
NCS coordinator John Sander said: "The students raised money when they held a 6to6 fundraising event in the Neil Sports Centre, from 6pm last Tuesday evening to 6am on Wednesday morning, where they faced a number of mini-challenges. The activities included sunset and sunrise walks, football challenges and a penalty shoot-out competition.
"Both groups have taken part in activities that will benefit their local community for a long time to come, which is the aim of the NCS scheme."
