3v3 tournament a success
The Carlisle United Academy, in conjunction with the Community Sports Trust, held a successful 3v3 tournament last weekend with teams from the U9 to U11 age groups taking part.Academy coach Ben Benson said: "The staff and I would like to say a massive thank you to all the players, coaches and teams involved. They all contributed to what was a fantastic day.
"The feedback we have had from players and coaches has really pleased us and we were all happy with how the event went.
"We held this tournament for a number of reasons. It was an opportunity for us to open the academy doors to grassroots teams and give them a chance to play at the football club.
"It gave our academy squads the opportunity to play in a competitive tournament, which they don't usually get the chance to do.
"It was also a great opportunity for us to underpin our players' technical and tactical philosophy through small sided football."
"I must say we were delighted with the standard of all the teams involved," he continued. "From our own point of view we are delighted with how our academy players coped with the day and they were all fantastic ambassadors for the football club.
"They should be very proud with how they played and conducted themselves."
