Redmond here for another month
Carlisle United have today extended Wigan Atheltic midfielder Danny Redmond’s youth loan deal for a second month which keeps him at Brunton Park until 5 April 2014.
Liverpool-born Redmond, 23, joined United at the beginning of last month and has made six appearances for the Cumbrians having cemented a starting place in the heart of the midfield engine room.
“Danny has been fantastic for us and we're delighted that he's staying,” manager Graham Kavanagh said.
"He's fitted in really well here and he's enjoying his football. We'd like to thank Wigan for the way they have handled this with us and we're sure that, now Danny has shown that he can handle this level, he will go from strength to strength as we go on from here."
Redmond started his career with Everton but moved to Wigan in 2009 and made his debut for the Latics in January 2011 in a third round FA Cup victory over Hull City.
Son of former-Man City skipper Steve, he spent the second half of the 2011/12 campaign on loan with Scottish first division club Hamilton and was rewarded for some impressive displays with a new contract on his return to the DW Stadium.
The 2012/13 season saw Redmond play a more advanced role in the Latics' Under 21 side where he was regularly handed the captain’s armband.
