Brad Potts on getting a run in the side
Midfielder Brad Potts has enjoyed an extended run of starts this season having cemented a place at the heart of the United engine room with some impressive performances.
We spoke to him about his form ahead of the trip to Port Vale this weekend.
“I’m pleased with my form and I’m really enjoying playing every week,” he said. “It’s good to be part of it when the lads are doing well and getting results.
“The manager is asking me to do different things and that’s really good for me. I’m learning new areas of the game all the time so I don’t really mind what he asks me to do. I’ll just get on with it.”
“I think it does feel easier to do what you’re asked to do when you’re playing every week,” he said. “What you do for the team is even more important out on the pitch so you have to pick things up quickly. Kav and the staff are working with me every day in training and my aim is to keep improving and to stay in the side.”
“It’s always good when you’re getting praise off the management team,” he confirmed. “I know myself that there is still room for improvement so that’s what I’ll keep trying to do. The other lads are still talking to me during the games, and that obviously helps, and I’m sure that will continue.
“I do keep an eye on my stats. I’ve started 25 games this season and it’s nice to see. I want to play as many as possible so I’ll just keep pushing on.”
And with two goals under his belt for the season he confirmed that he’s confident he’ll be adding at least one or two more before the campaign comes to a close.
“I do back myself to score in every game now that I’ve got a couple,” he said. “I don’t mind having a go but the results are more important. If I don’t score, and we get three points, that’s fine with me.
“I did think I’d got another one last Saturday. I hit it well but it ended up going just too far to the right. I’ll keep getting into the positions and hopefully I’ll keep getting the shots off.”
Next up for the Blues is a trip to Port Vale at the weekend.
“I think the performance last Saturday is bound to give us confidence as we go into the Saturday game,” he told us. “We know we can play like that when we’re on our game but the problem is that we’ve been inconsistent. Hopefully we’ll sort that and push up the table.
“Port Vale will be tough but we go into it feeling confident. Hopefully we’ll come back with something to show for it.”
