Jordan Pickford on extending his loan deal
Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford spoke to us following the news that his loan spell has been extended until the end of the current campaign.
"I'm pleased to be here until the end of the season," he admitted. "I knew I'd have to do well in my first month and I think I managed to do that.
"I played every game I could and when I heard there was a chance for me to sign until the end of the season I knew I should go for it."
"It's good to know I'm here until the end of the season now because it means I can get my head down and work hard," he explained. "All I want is to keep playing well which should mean I keep my place in the team.
"I knew the more I played the more confident I would become and I can feel that's happened for me. I've always been told to be positive and come for things when I can. If I can keep coming for crosses it helps the defenders out and I think we've got a good understanding now."
"Clean sheets are important for a goalkeeper and a back four so it has been pleasing to get a couple," he commented. "It would be nice to get a couple more and that's something we're trying to achieve in every game. The win is always more important but usually, if you can keep a clean sheet, then more times than not you'll go away with the three points."
"We've got a good group of keepers here and that does make you train harder," he said. "You know that you can't step off the gas otherwise there's someone ready to take your place. It's really good for all of us because it makes sure that we're all performing as well as we can."
"I've spoken to Sunderland and they just want me to keep playing games," he told us. "The more I play the more experience I gain. I can feel myself learning every day so hopefully I can go back there at the end of the season a better all-round goalkeeper.
"It is good to hear Kav say that I'm playing well but I just like to concentrate on my football. I'll keep trying my best and as long as I'm playing and doing the right things on a Saturday then I'll be happy. I think Kav will be happy with that as well."
And on the trip to Sheffield tomorrow, he said: "I actually played at Bramall Lane at the start of the season with Burton, in the Capital One Cup, and we beat them.
"Hopefully we'll be able to do the same tomorrow night. They're on a good run but we'll be going there trying to stop that. We know if we go there and do things right then we'll get the result we all want."
