Drill pass

+ Used over a medium distance to set the pace and tone of play
+ Looking to play the ball just off the ground so it ideally reaches the receiver just below the shins
+ Look to make point of contact with the laces with eyes fixed on the ball

Driven pass

+ Used to play the ball over a longer distance – typically used on a goal kick or diagonal passes
+ Keep your eyes on the ball and do not lift the head until the ball is released
+ Your planting foot should be at least a balls width away to allow you to strike underneath the ball on the top and side of the foot
+ Maximum follow through with toes pointing

Fly kick - first time, quick ball

+ Used on a pass back when under pressure or coming off the line to clear a through ball which is coming towards you quickly
+ On a quick ball or bouncing ball it is important to play off your side foot as it is a bigger surface area
+ Lean back slightly to allow for lift
+ As ball is carrying pace a side foot is best to use and you are just looking to help the ball on with height, width and distance to allow you to recover back to the goal

Fly kick - first time, slow ball

+ Used on a pass back when under pressure or coming off the line to clear a through ball which is coming towards you slowly
+ On a slow ball it is important to play off your laces as we need to transfer a large amount of power through the ball
+ Lean back slightly to allow for lift
+ As the ball is not carrying pace the laces are best to use as you are just looking to drive through the ball looking for height, width and distance to allow you to recover back to the goal
