United go retro ahead of the new season
Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to be able to reveal our new home and away strips for the 2014/15 season, with main club sponsor Virgin Trains taking pride of place for the first time as we look forward with a look back to our season in the top flight with a retro feel to the new kit.
Produced by Sondico, the ‘railway line’ blue home and yellow away strips take us back exactly 40 years to our ‘Season in the Sun’ when we took on the best Division One – now the Premier League – had to offer.
Fans will get to see the lads in the yellow away strip at our pre-season friendly against Penrith at Frenchfields Park on Tuesday evening [kick off 7.30pm] with exclusive first buy details for our season ticket holders to follow.
Stuart Davison, Virgin Trains’ Customer Experience Manager, said: “The kits look fantastic and we’re overjoyed to see the Virgin Trains name adorning the main shirt.
“This is a great start to the season and cements the strong relationship we have with Carlisle United.”
Deputy managing director Suzanne Kidd said: “We’ve worked closely with our new supplier Sondico to bring a modern touch to the strips we wore 40 years ago and we think we’ve achieved that.
“Sondico have added some eye-catching sublimation and main features and we know our main club sponsor Virgin Trains are as pleased with the end results as we are. The next step is obviously to get both strips on general release and we hope to be able to make announcements on that in the very near future.”
Managing director John Nixon said: “The strips represent a complete change starting with Sondico, our new supplier, and our new main sponsor, Virgin Trains, who are also offering a fantastic saving of 25% on travel for our season ticket holders. *
“At the same time we are able to recognise and remember our memorable season in the First Division of English football.
“Coupled with the many changes of staff on and off the field, and the hard work we have been doing with fan engagement, we feel we are starting to build the impetus the club has been looking for ahead of our new League Two campaign.”
Scores.co.uk, the Carlisle based online sports scores portal, will see its branding appear on the back of United’s home and away shirt for a second season for all League Two, Capital One Cup, FA Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy fixtures.
Carlisle United’s commercial director Dick Young said: “We have a fantastic relationship with Andy Bell and Scores.co.uk and we are delighted that they will be with us again this season.
“It's extremely important for us to build and foster partnerships like this as it is key to the way we want to drive the club forward.
“Scores.co.uk are fantastic supporters of the club and we welcome them on board for the new campaign.”
