Key incidents from the Workington game
United faced local side Workington in their last Saturday friendly of pre-season at Borough Park.5 mins - It was a very tight start as the sides battled for possession in midfield. Symington almost found space after a patient build up but his cross was deflected and Jamieson gathered at his near post.
9 mins - Gillies delivered the first corner of the day but Potts couldn't keep his header down and it looped high over the target.
12 mins - The Reds got forward in numbers and Gibson brought Coleman into play with a back heel on the left flank. The big striker stepped inside and shot from distance but Gillespie was well placed to make the save.
19 mins - A flick from Beck took Dempsey into the area. His cross was blocked for a corner and Archibald-Henville sent his header from that one high into the air. Jamieson moved across to pluck it from beneath the bar.
30 mins - A clash of heads between Beck and Wordsworth took the Carlisle man from the pitch as he looked dazed. Gillies swung a free kick into the box when play restarted and Smith did well to guide it away for a corner as Potts lurked. GIllies took charge of the set piece again and a flap from Jamieson brought a half chance for Meppen-Walter as the ball streaked across the face of goal.
33 mins - Gibson delivered a drilled corner when Workington got forward and May connected with a powerful header. Symington held his position and cleared it off the line as it angled for the top corner. A second corner caused more problems as May was once more the target. It fell for Coleman but his guided shot smashed into Andrews and bounced away. Wordsworth followed up but he popped his volley wide.
40 mins - United grabbed the lead when a Robson cross brought Jamieson off his line. Paynter challenged and Josh Gillies said thank you very much as he popped his third pre-season goal into the back of the empty net from close range.
44 mins - Willie Gibson wrapped his boot round a 25 yard free kick and Gillespie had to concentrate as it dipped and swirled in front of him. He did well to readjust and beat it away.
47 mins - United doubled their lead when Gillies whisked a superb free kick into the box from the left flank. Meppen-Walter used strength to shrug his marker off and his reward was a thundering volley which hit the back of the net via the upright.
50 mins - A Reds corner missed everyone as May tried to gain ground at the far post. United cleared with Andrews and Smith in close attendance.
51 mins - Dempsey curled a speculative effort into the crowd when he dropped a shoulder and went for an early shot.
56 mins - Meppen-Walter sent a difficult header over the bar from an outswinging Gillies corner.
59 mins - Dempsey beat his man after a good touch and decided to shoot as Workington stood off. He hit it well but it lacked direction.
63 mins - Kearns spun his marker and Sweeney stepped back to connect with a header. He caught it well but it dropped harmlessly past the angle of post and bar.
71 mins - Potts swept another shot from distance wide following a measured build up from Kearns, Paynter and Robson.
83 mins - Dempsey found Grainger and he beat his man befpre setting it up for Potts. The midfielder had time but he couldn't keep his shot on target.
85 mins - Workington got forward for a set piece and it eventually fell for Telfer on the penalty spot. His header was on target but right at Gillespie.
87 mins - Amoo beat two and cut the ball back as he made the byline. Paynter checked his run and sent a volley right at Jamieson.
