ACADEMY: Linked club - Carlisle City

Club profile of one of our Academy linked clubs

Thanks to Carlisle City chairman Brian Hall for giving us this run down of City as they enter their second season as a CUFC Academy linked club:

Formed in 1975, with just one senior team, the club will field 24 teams in the forthcoming 2014/5 season.

These range from under 7s to under 16s, including five girls teams, two senior open-age sides plus a Ladies team and a veterans’ side.

Throughout that period the club has fielded a senior team in the Northern Football Alliance, finishing runners-up on eight occasions and winning cup competitions numerous times.

The junior section of the club was formed during the 1980s and the younger sides have clinched County Cups and league titles on many occasions.

Many players have left City to join the Academy system at Brunton Park.

All sides have qualified FA Level 1 coaches, with a number of club members also holding either Level 2 or Level 3.

Brian Hall said: "We are delighted to renew the agreement for a second season and hope that it will develop further in years to come. It offers a pathway between the two clubs and a method of sharing resources which can only be mutually beneficial."
