Attacking midfielder stays in Cambridge
Attacking midfielder Josh Gillies has today extended his loan spell with Cambridge United until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
Gillies, 23, initially joined Skrill Conference Premier League pace-setters Cambridge United on a one-month loan deal at the end of September and has been a regular starter at the Abbey.
He rejoins the Abbeymen following a brief return to Cumbria and is available for their fixtures as of this weekend.
"Josh has had a good time with Cambridge and he's been getting games, which is exactly what we all wanted." manager Graham Kavanagh said. "It's a great opportunity for him and it's one we are happy to allow to continue.
"We'll keep monitoring his progress and hopefully it will continue to be an arrangement which is of huge benefit to all parties concerned."
Gillies joined United on a two-year deal from Gateshead in June this year and made a total of ten appearances for the Cumbrians, including a run of four starts for the first team in August. His last outing came in the JPT defeat at Fleetwood in the middle of November.
