United travelled down the M6 to face Preston in a youth friendly this morning and boss Alan Moore took the opportunity to run the rule over some of the Academy U16 side.
"It was great to be able to see these lads in a competitive environment," he said. "It was a really good game and we were up against scholars, so they'll have learned a lot from it.
"We played some good football and Connor Hammell got himself a fantastic goal from a free kick. All in all it was an excellent and very worthwhile trip."
