Danny Redmond on his loan deal
Midfielder Danny Redmond spoke to us about what he wants from the next month shortly after signing his loan contract with the club.
"I'm excited to be here and I'm looking forward to getting on with it now," he said. "I've met the lads and trained with them for a couple of days and they've made me feel welcome already.
"Under 21 football is ok but you aren't really playing for anything. League football is totally different because you're playing for the three points and league position which is something I need to do for my career.
"Being around a first team is a lot different to reserve football. Everybody wants to play first team football. I spoke to Jordan Mustoe, who was here last season, and he said it was a great club so I couldn't turn the opportunity down.
"The staff at Wigan have told me to come here and express myself and hopefully I'll prove myself at this level. If I can do that then I'm hoping to get the chance to go back to Wigan and prove myself there."
On what we can expect to see, he said: "I like to get on the half turn and play passes through the middle. I also like to get on the scoresheet if I can and I want to chip in with a few during my time here.
"I actually started playing in defence when I was younger. I progressed into midfield and now I tend to play in the hole and create some goals for the strikers. Career wise, I started at Everton, even though I am a Liverpool fan, and I left there when I was 17. I got a trial at Wigan after that and I've been there ever since.
"Kav obviously watched me in the reserve game on Tuesday but I think he's seen me a few times before then," he revealed. "It is a bit of a confidence boost because it means that he likes what he's seen when he's watched me.
"When the manager changes at your club it is difficult to make your mark so that's why it's important to come out on loan. It's difficult when a new manager comes in because you have to keep trying to prove yourself. I'll just keep working hard and hopefully it'll pay off."
And on what he's seen at Brunton Park so far, he said: "The lads all work hard in training and you can tell they all want to fight for every point. I'm really looking forward to being a part of that.
"It's a good thing that we've got a home game straight away on Tuesday night because it means you don't really have chance to get nervous or anything like that. I'm really looking forward to getting on with it all."
